making mochi
While visiting with Ryan and Kirsten, we happened upon a mountain festival where the locals were making mochi. It is made by boiling rice and then pounding the rice with the big mallet pictured until the rice is a sticky uniform consistency.The locals let me take a few clumsy whacks at it.
